Jim Crow was much more than a system mandating separate water fountains and movie theater entrances. Join renowned Ohio State University historian Hasan Kwame Jeffries for a talk exploring the importance of understanding the legal and extralegal structures that enforced Jim Crow for decades and the resilience and resistance of Black people, communities, and institutions in the face of it. Dr. Jeffries will be joined by Salem State professors Brad Austin, Bethany Jay, and Steven Oliver for a roundtable discussion of Jim Crow’s history and legacy.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
