The Outstanding First Year Advocate Award recognizes ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥ community members who have made a positive impact on students' first-year experience. The award allows the first-year students to nominate and recognize individuals who have demonstrated a specific commitment to and impact on first-year student transition, learning, development and success.
Each year, First Year Experience selects two faculty members, two staff/administrators, and two upper-class student leaders for this honor from a large number of nominations submitted.
This year's honorees have not only supported first-year students in their transition, but they have also done so during unprecedented times. The quality of the nominations received this year was exceedingly high, as first-year students truly appreciate the efforts made to guide and mentor them on their journey.
The recipients of the 2022 Outstanding First Year Advocate Awards are:
- Brad Hubeny: Professor, Geological Sciences
- Christine MacTaylor: Professor, Chemistry and Physics
- Lisa Bibeau: Director, Disability Services
- Karen Gahagan: Director, Center for Creative and Performing Arts
- Gisady Mendoza: Mentor, Student Transition & Engagement Program
- Arianna Merrill: Senior Resident Assistant, Residence Life
Congratulations and thank you for all you do do for students at ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥!
