The Frederick E. Berry Institute of Politics (Berry IOP) is seeking motivated undergraduate and graduate students to serve as Vikings Vote Ambassadors for the 2023 Municipal Elections.
About the Position:
Vikings Vote Ambassadors are responsible for supporting Salem State students through their voting process. Through nonpartisan events, collaborating with campus partners, and 1:1 outreach, Vote Ambassadors will ensure that all students who are eligible to vote are registered, educated about the candidates, and have a plan to vote. This position will work 6 hours a week from September through November and be paid $15.00 an hour.
Who Should Apply?
We are seeking Vikings Vote Ambassadors that reflect the diversity of Salem State students. Strong communication skills, creativity, reliability, and willingness to learn are desired. Previous experience with voter registration or political engagement is helpful but not necessary! Eligibility to vote in the U.S. is not required. Above all, we are seeking students who are passionate about engaging their peers in the upcoming election. Does this sound like you?

About the 2023 Municipal Elections:
This fall, cities across Massachusetts, including the city of Salem, are holding local elections to elect mayors, city councilors, and other positions. Local elections like these are important because these are the people who make decisions that impact your community. You have the opportunity to influence systems of power and make an impact on issues you care about by educating and motivating other students to vote.
