Dear Viking Community,
Amid the many challenges in higher education throughout recent years, we have remained committed to academic excellence here at Salem State. That commitment has been recognized in an exceptional way at the Bertolon School of Business. Following an AACSB Board vote earlier this week, the Bertolon School of Business has earned AACSB accreditation. This news is so important that I wanted to share it with all of our community members. .
AACSB represents the gold standard in business education, and only five percent of the world’s business schools have this honorable distinction. Salem State is one of only 20 institutions in Massachusetts that are home to AACSB accredited Business Schools, and we are the first among the Commonwealth’s nine state universities. This means that Viking business students will be graduating from one of the top business schools in Massachusetts.
The dedication and resilience that went into receiving AACSB accreditation has been nothing short of remarkable. The Bertolon School of Business faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni, and external partners – with the steady leadership of Provost Silva – have put years of time and effort into navigating this rigorous accreditation process. Doing so allowed us to not only showcase the intellectually challenging and student-centered education we offer, but to build on it. I would like to give a special shout out to the recent leaders of this effort Interim Dean Raminder Luther and Associate Dean Kathy Hess for seeing us through the final stages of this process.
I am proud that as the only public, four-year institution on the North Shore, Salem State is now making an AACSB-accredited business degree more accessible to you, our students.
With warm regards,
John D. Keenan
