What brought you to 春梦直播?
I liked the biology department. The departments professors seem to deeply care about what they teach. I also liked the campus itself and its resources, especially for first years, plus it was an affordable option. I have always loved science and I am very excited to pursue it in higher education.
What has been one of your favorite classes that you have taken? (Okay to share more than one)
Despite chemistry not being my strong suit, general chemistry 2 with Professor Todd Wimpfheimer has been one of my favorite classes. The subject is difficult, but he makes it easier to understand and fun to learn.
What are some of your favorite things about living on campus?
I like being able to attend events hosted by different on campus groups. I also love my on-campus job at the Berry Institute of Politics.
Where did you grow up?
I am a Brazilian-American first-generation student, and I am currently a sophomore. I grew up mainly in Milford, Massachusetts. I have two little sisters, three cats, and two dogs.
What classes or faculty members had the greatest impact on you?
I think that my boss, Samantha Griffen, and my TRIO advisor, Dr. Kevin Linton, have had great impacts on my academic journey so far. These are people who motivate me to do my best, celebrate my achievements and are always available whenever I need advice.
What was one of your favorite moments at Salem State?
My first Voterpalooza with 鈥淰iking Votes鈥, I had a great time with my coworkers, I got to engage with students on campus, and I voted for the very first time!
What are some good habits you put in place for yourself in college?
I am trying to be more organized and on top of assignments and due dates, while also balancing my job and clubs.
What are some things that new students should check out on campus or in Salem?
The Cookie Monstah and Good Night Fatty, these are the best cookie places in Salem.
What do you wish you had known before starting college?
It is very different from high school. The independence is great, but it鈥檚 hard trying to learn how to navigate a completely new environment. It鈥檚 also hard finding teaching styles that work for you and managing time. It鈥檚 difficult, but worth it.
What advice do you have for prospective students looking at colleges?
Don鈥檛 get discouraged, there are always ways to recover and push forward. Put your best effort into all you do, and you will succeed.
Where is your favorite place to use your clippercard?
The Dunkin Donuts on campus!
What do you hope to do after graduation?
I鈥檓 not sure yet, but maybe lab work or field work. I鈥檇 even love to represent a bio company鈥檚 or aquarium鈥檚 social media accounts. We鈥檒l see what鈥檚 available when I get there in a few years.
