Professor Lorri Krebs and Salem City Planner, Tom Daniels, led the GPH373 Land Use Planning and Analysis class for a guided tour on the history and importance of city planning. Students visited the Planning Department at the City of Salem and were provided with background information on planning, zoning and permitting and how governmental processes and public opinion inform and determine land use.
They were then afforded the opportunity to see first hand the outcome of the process and how it impacts neighborhoods and the composition of the city overall.
