Discussion on: Best Practice in Cancer Rehabilitation

Empowering Participation After Treatment

Join Christian Baglini, AGPCNP from Mass General’s Cancer and Lifestyle Medicine Program and Kelsey Brown, MOT, OTR/L, CLT (Certified Lymphedema Therapist) from Spaulding Rehabilitations Inpatient Cancer Unit for a discussion on the continuum of care for patient’s who have had cancer and empowering participation after treatment. Specific inter-professional case studies and resources will be part of our collaborative session.



Gun Violence Prevention- From Advocacy to Action

Monday, February 26, 2024 3-5 pm I Ellison Campus Center

Join us for an afternoon of dialogue dedicated to preventing gun violence in Massachusetts. We will be joined by Representative Marjorie Decker and Moms Demand Action spokesperson Ann Haaser, who will participate in a panel discussion that addresses pending gun violence prevention legislation in the Commonwealth. Ms. Altagrace Beliard, the mother of our student Carl-Hens Beliard, who tragically fell victim to gun violence on November 1, 2023, will also be present at the event. Participants will be able to become civically engaged in the gun violence prevention movement through small group dialogues and opportunities for advocacy and action.

This event, a collaborative effort by the Center for Civic Engagement, Center for Inter-professional Education and Collaboration, and the Maguire Meservey College of Health and Human Services, is the inaugural event of our gun violence prevention and awareness campaign series. Trauma Informed Interventions for Children and Families Who Have Experienced Gun Violence

The REACT Program-Recovery and Empowerment after Community Trauma

Join Dr. Bradley C. Stolbach, PhD Trauma Psychologist, The University of Chicago Co-Founder, Healing Hurt People-Chicago Director, The University of Chicago Medicine REACT Program Recovery and Empowerment after Community Trauma for a presentation on trauma informed programs and intervention for people who have experienced gun violence in their communities. Inter-professional case studies and community resources will be discussed.

Anxiety: Treating the Underlying "Root" Across Disciplines

Monday, March 25, 4:30-6:30 pm I Online

A new journey through anxiety! The flavors of anxiety can be seen in many different ways, with varying symptoms and it can change across the lifespan. We as medical professionals would like to share an interdisciplinary approach and how it can amplify the healing process.

The panel will include an integrative occupational therapist, integrative nurse practitioner, licensed social worker and a naturopathic doctor. Each of us brings in different treatment modalities and perspectives to help support the clients and patients we serve, recognizing that each approach is an integral part of the whole therapeutic process.

Facilitating Healthcare Professionals and Students to Use Visual Arts to Enhance Clinical Reasoning, Empathy, and Inclusion in Healthcare.

Join Brooke DiGiovanni Evans, M.E.d. Co-founder of the Center for Visual Arts in Healthcare National Organization for Arts in Health, Board of Directors Northeastern University, and Adjunct Faculty at Harvard Medical School for an interactive presentation on utilizing the visual arts to enhance clinical reasoning, empathy, and inclusion in the healthcare environment.

Screening and Assessment to Improve Participation in Children and Adolescents

Join Dr. Jeff Kerher-Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Specialist-Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School for an interactive hands on presentation discussing the current evidence-based screening tools, assessment and interventions for children and adolescents who have a variety of connective tissue disorders.
