The Organization of American Historians (OAH) has named Salem State alumnus Brian Sheehy '09G (MAT, history) the . According to the OAH, the award recognizes the contributions made by precollegiate teachers to improve history education within the field of American history.

Sheehy is the history department coordinator at North Andover High School, where he teaches AP European History, World Civilization, U.S. History, Global Thought, and Sports in American Culture.
