LYNN, MASS. – An inaugural cohort of nine Lynn Vocational Technical Institute students took early steps toward college-hood last week through the school’s Direct Admission program with ֱ.
Titled “SSU Applies To You,” the program simplifies admissions and promotes equity by removing barriers like application fees and paperwork from the college enrollment process.
The program, entering its second year at ֱ, begins in the spring of the prior academic year when interested juniors at participating schools submit an admissions interest form and authorize the release of their high school transcript to Salem State. Come the following fall – in this case, at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 15 – a cohort of qualified students are admitted to Salem State to effectively begin their senior year as their parents observe the moment and likewise celebrate.
Of the nine students admitted at Lynn Vocational, four are entering Salem State as nursing majors. The other five students plan to enroll as biology, business, computer science, education and exploratory majors.
Lynn Vocational Technical Institute represents the second Direct Admission ceremony for Salem State this year after an initial celebration at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School on October 4. A third is planned for students celebrating direct admissions from Lynn Classical High School in early December.
