Robert E. Brown, PhD, of North Reading, professor of media and communications at ֱ, received the 2018 John J. Molloy Crystal Bell Lifetime Achievement Award from The Publicity Club of New England. The award was presented during a ceremony at The State Room in Boston on June 13.
The award, according to the club’s website, “celebrates the achievements of New England communications veterans” who have storied and lengthy careers in communications and/or public relations.
“Teaching awakened me to see that public relations isn’t only about everything, it’s about everyone, especially my students,” said Brown. “The Publicity Club has been my unseen partner keeping me current in the classroom.”
Serving on the faculty at Salem State since 1995, Brown has previously been a professor at Bentley University, Boston College, Boston University, California State University-LA, Emerson College, and is on the graduate faculty of the Blanquerna School of Communications Ramon Llull University, Barcelona, Spain. In 2004, Brown was recognized as a Joanne Fussa Distinguished Teacher, on the basis of graduate student evaluations, while teaching Writing for PR and Marketing at Harvard University Extension.
Professor Brown is a member of the Public Relations Division of the National Communication Association (N.C.A.), P.R.S.A. (Public Relations Society of America) and the Publicity Club of New England.
Brown lives in North Reading with his wife, the author Delia Cabe.
