Dear Salem State Community,
I’m writing to share updates as the search for Salem State’s 14th president is underway. The Presidential Search Committee has been in the recruitment phase for over a month, and we are extremely pleased that our national search has yielded a large and diverse pool of well-qualified candidates.
The presidential profile, , developed with assistance from our executive search firm Witt/Kieffer, lays out the qualities that we envision in our next president. As the Presidential Search Committee begins the evaluation process, we plan to narrow the pool and select semi-finalists to interview in late April. We anticipate inviting finalist candidates to campus in early May, and members of the campus community will be encouraged to attend finalist forums. While we are now in the evaluation phase of the search, it remains open and we encourage you to continue to make nominations and direct interested parties to Witt/Kieffer.
Although confidentiality concerns preclude sharing details at this phase, I want to again emphasize how pleased we are with the response to the search. In keeping with the Search Committee’s charge, we are committed to screening all nominations and applications based on the characteristics identified in the leadership profile and interviewing those candidates who present the strongest qualifications.
I look forward to bringing you future updates on behalf of the Presidential Search Committee. For more information about the search, please visit
Thank you,
Teresa Chisholm
