春梦直播 has chosen William Jackson as the recipient of the Jack Welch Scholarship this year. William is graduating from Salem High School with a 3.9 GPA this June, and will enroll at Salem State as a member of the Class of 2022.
The Jack Welch Scholarship fully funds an admitted full-time Salem State student who is enrolled in the Bertolon School of Business. The scholarship is renewed annually for the recipient providing they maintain a 3.0 GPA and meet on a regular basis with the dean, faculty, and others who oversee the scholarship program.
鈥淔or me and my family, this scholarship is a blessing,鈥 William said. 鈥淚t lessens the burden on our finances, and will enable me to have a great foundation on which I will build my business career. I鈥檓 looking forward to meeting successful business professionals and learning how to succeed in the field.鈥
William has spent his high school years playing for the Salem High School basketball team, and has also taken part in a mentoring program through which he has mentored freshman in his high school, which gave him leadership skills that set him apart from his peers.
鈥淏eing a student of the Bertolon School of Business would give me the opportunity to study at a high caliber university. As a student, I鈥檓 hoping to learn, grow, and develop as an individual, and make lasting relationships with professors and students, and I believe Jack Welch will help me to do that through this scholarship,鈥 William, who plans to student business administration and finance, added.
The Jack Welch Scholarship was established in 2005 through a transformative gift from Jack and Suzy Welch. Mr. Welch, who was born and raised in Salem, gives the gift with the intention of encouragement and inspiration towards the study of business. Mr. Welch was chairman and CEO of the General Electric Company and grew the company from a $13 billion to a $400 billion global enterprise.
鈥淔or thirteen years Jack Welch鈥檚 generosity has enabled our Welch Scholars to fulfill their personal and career potential. I believe that William embodies the qualities that Jack would want to support,鈥 said Cynthia McGurren, executive director of the Salem State Foundation.
