Cameron Beatty, PhD, associate professor of secondary and higher education, has been awarded the Emerging Scholars Award from American College Personnel Association-College Student Educators International (ACPA). Professor Beatty was honored along with his fellow award recipients at the ACPA annual convention in Houston Texas on March 12.
鈥淚t is an honor to awarded one of the Emerging Scholars Designee from ACPA. I think about the previous Emerging and Senior Scholars designees and what they have contributed to the scholarship on student affairs and feel very privileged to be in their company. I hope to contribute to the field of student affairs through my work in order to inform more equitable and just practices in higher education, said Professor Beatty.
The award, according to ACPA, 鈥渟upports, encourages, and honors early-career individuals who are emerging as contributors to student affairs and higher education scholarship and who are pursuing research initiatives congruent with the mission, interests, and strategic goals of ACPA.鈥
鈥淚 am thrilled to offer Professor Beatty my heartiest congratulations for having received this important recognition,鈥 said Provost David Silva. 鈥淭he award is emblematic of his ongoing commitment to research that both informs and is informed by practice in his field. To be considered for the award, Professor Beatty submitted a letter of interest, a CV, letters of recommendation, a research project proposal, and proposed scholarly leadership commitments.
According to their website, ACPA is 鈥渢he leading comprehensive student affairs association that advances student affairs and engages students for a lifetime of learning and discovery.鈥
