Students Inducted Into Alpha Omega Psi at ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥

Oct 22, 2019

The First-Year Experience office at ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥ recently inducted outstanding first-year students into Alpha Omega Psi, a local honor society for students who demonstrate strong academic performance and engagement at the university.  These students were invited to participate in the university’s Emerging Scholars program and successfully completed all requirements while maintaining a commitment to their academic success.

Emerging Scholars participants are paired with upper-class mentors and participate in a variety of academic success workshops throughout their first year. Members also receive support on adjusting to both the academic and social life at ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥. In addition, their performance in the classroom reflects their commitment to achieving academic success.

On Saturday, October 19th, these students were honored at the annual Alpha Omega Psi induction ceremony, with their friends and family members in attendance. Students were sworn into the honor society by the Director of First-Year Experience Mathew Chetnik and the Assistant Director of First-Year Experience Franklin Chilaka.  The Inductees were awarded a certificate and medallion which they may wear as part of their commencement regalia in two years.

The Emerging Scholars program is one of many initiatives at ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥ designed to connect first-year students to a support network that assists them in achieving success on their journey towards college completion.  For more information about the Emerging Scholars program or the First-Year Experience, email firstyear@salemstate.edu or contact the First-Year Experience Office at .
