Summer Groups at Salem State

This summer marks the second in our initiative to utilize campus during the summer months in order to develop additional revenue in support of the campus strategic plan goals of financial vitality and sustainability. Coming to campus this summer: 

June 

Lithuanian Scouting Association: For teens who trace their heritage to Lithuania, this group will be on campus for a weekend retreat. 

Guard Up! Living in Bates complex, this camp for children ages 7–15 teaches STEM skills through live action role playing.  

Defending Jacob: If you loved the book, you may be excited to learn it is being turned into a mini-series starring Chris Evans. Filming in locations around the north shore, the production company, Paramount Pictures TV, will be utilizing the O’Keefe Parking lot and field house on two weekends to park cars and prep the extras for filming. 

July 

Designed Education: Teens from Brazil will be living on campus for two weeks as they learn about college in America and prepare for US college entrance exams and perfect their English skills. 

Cummings Family Association: A national genealogical organization for descendants and researchers of the early American colonist Isaac Cummings (1601–1677). 

McClosky Institute of Voice: A four-day institute whose participants will be living in Viking Hall and studying in the Central Campus classroom building.  

Ivy League Educators: High school students from Spain will be living on campus and spending their days at other area institutions as they prepare for college in the US. 

Tron Pty: Chinese college students will be living in Viking Hall for two weeks as they study at Harvard during the day. 

Green Party National Convention: For four days, we will host Green Party members from across the US as they learn about advocacy and participate in workshops on a wide range of topics. Adding to the excitement will be the announcement of who the party will be running for president during the 2020 election. 

Upward Bound Jamboree: For the second year, Salem State's Upward Bound will be hosting groups from around the state for a day of workshops on a wide variety of topics.  

Peabody Essex Fellows: While they spend their days at the Peabody Essex Museum, PEM fellows will be spending their nights and weekends on campus. 

Beyond Walls: Artists from around the country will be living on campus as they spend their days working on public art projects around Salem and Lynn.
