Temporary Relocation of Dining Services

Dear Campus Community,

We have learned that two individuals who occupied spaces in Marsh Dining Hall have tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily closing Marsh Dining Hall in order to conduct enhanced cleaning in accordance with CDC guidelines and the city of Salem’s Department of Health recommendations.

Beginning today, Friday, November 6, through 5 pm on Saturday November 7, dining services will take place at North Campus Dining Commons.

All persons that have been identified as possible close contacts with the two individuals, who have tested positive, are in the process of being notified. We do not believe that there is an elevated risk to any other community members at this time but are aware that the number of COVID-19 cases in Salem and in Massachusetts overall continue to rise.

We strongly encourage all community members to continue to follow COVID-19 safety protocols, which include: face coverings, physical distancing, hand washing, avoidance of large gatherings, and symptom monitoring. If anyone does experience any new symptoms we ask that you not come to campus and instead contact HR if you are an employee, or counseling and health services (at 978-542-6413) if you are a student. We also encourage all on campus community members to take advantage of free testing on campus on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Information about COVID=19 testing can be found here.
